LUCENA CITY - Pet owners are encouraged to become more involved in preventing animal bite incidents.
To recognize March as Rabies Awareness Month, the City Veterinary Office in this city recently launched events at the SM City Lucena Event Center under the direction of Dra. Michelle Anne Javier.
These initiatives seek to reduce the number of rabies cases in the city and promote a safer environment for both humans and animals.
The program is a collaboration between the Veterinary Office, the city government, and other government agencies, led by Mayor Mark Alcala.
In addition, the program also encourages pet owners to have their pets spayed or neutered to control the population of stray animals in the city. These activities are crucial in maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment for both pets and humans alike.
Pet owners who took part in the program also got free stuff from partner companies like UNAHCO and Vetmate.
The Veterinary Office also gave awards for best dressed and best behaved to the animals listed above that took part in local government events.
Dr. Javier shared in his interview what the importance of the month of March is to dogs and cats, as well as the performance of this activity.
