STO. TOMAS CITY, Batangas - The "Kadiwa ng Pangulo" has been reinstituted by the Department of Agriculture (DA) in this province through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) to provide locals with fresh produce, fruits, and marine items at reasonable prices.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the Kadiwa ng Pangulo on March 1, 2023, said on Wednesday that they have been conducting mobile market activities in various areas here where a wide array of fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and other fishery products, frozen meat and poultry products are available for consumers.
Furthermore, he said that Kadiwa ng Pangulo intends to assist farmers and fishermen in exporting their products and provide the general public with goods produced and manufactured at lower costs for Batangas residents.
As part of the administration's initiative to provide Filipinos with more reasonably priced and high-quality agricultural and fishery products the president leads the Kadiwa ng Pangulo following the launch of the "Halina't Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay Kadiwa'y Yaman Plants for Bountiful Barangays Movement" (HAPAG KAY PBBM) at the Open Air Auditorium.
Over 37 vendors from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Food Authority (NFA), and vendors brought in by the local government unit (LGU) of Santo Tomas is taking part in today's Kadiwa program.
Kadiwa ng Pangulo is a continuation of the wildly popular "Kadiwa ng Pasko" campaign from the previous year, to ensure that food supplies are made available and accessible to Filipino families and places with high consumer demand. It also intends to provide a venue for local farmers and fishermen to conduct direct business with consumers to increase their income.
According to Marcos, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo was launched on February 27 in Cebu City to build on the success of the "Kadiwa ng Pasko," which began during the Christmas season.
"The Kadiwa ng Pangulo, a farm-to-consumer market chain, strives to provide channels for consumers to acquire affordable local agricultural products and commodities while enabling local producers to gain more income by removing intermediaries," he said.
Sto. Tomas City Mayor Arth Marasigan expressed gratitude for their city's involvement in the President's Kadiwa.
He also said that Kadiwa ng Pangulo helps local farmers and MSMEs get their products seen by the public.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) runs the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program pays honoraria to merchants.
Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr., Department of Agriculture (DA) Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban, and DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Felicito Valmocina inspected the Urban Garden, a HAPAG model project located at the Burnham Green in Rizal Park, prior to the event.
