SILANG, Cavite - For more than a month, relatives of the victims had hoped to see their loved ones again, but they were disappointed when it was declared that no survivors were aboard the then-missing plane transporting the victims.
Even though they had been mourning for a month and the deceased had been laid to rest, they still felt enormous grief and loss.
The mayor of Silang, Kevin Anarna, went to see the families of the deceased in the fatal airplane crash, especially those who worked for the town government.
Silang Mayor Anarna and Municipal Administrator Nathaniel Anarna, Jr. has visited the wake of the four who died in the Cessna plane crash this Wednesday, March 15.
Municipal employee Anna May Kamatoy, mother of two children who died, included one of her nephews and her brother Val.
The local government gave P100,000 each to each plane crash victim.
"The local government has arrived and is ready to assist. Because it is in Isabela, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is still processing the relief. When we arrived, we gave it to them. A respectful burial is necessary," according to the mayor.
As of this writing, the victims of the Cessna 206, Mark Eiron Siguerra, 20, and Xam Siguerra, 10; their cousin Rom Joshtle Manaday, 15; and uncle Val Kamatoy, 34, have been laid to rest.
It can be recalled that the missing Cessna 206 plane had been missing for more than a month, according to reports from the Cagayan Valley Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's Incident Management Team (CVDRRMC-IMT), and one of the search and rescue teams found the plane.
Engr. Ezekiel Chavez, the Divilacan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, said that a search team of police, military, fire, and Dumagat volunteers found the missing plane in Barangay Ditarum, Divilacan, Isabela, which is part of the Sierra Madre highlands.
The composite team had found the dead bodies of the passengers and the pilot in the plane's wreckage on March 9, 2023, and they had switched from search and rescue to recovery operations.
On the afternoon of January 24, 2023, a Cessna 206 with the tail number RP - C1174 took off from Cauayan City Airport with five passengers and the pilot aboard.
On January 25, 2023, the CVDRRMC formed the Incident Management Team to conduct search and rescue operations and mobilized the trained search and rescue teams from the Philippine Army (PA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Air Force (PAF), K9 Units from the PNP, IP volunteers, MDRRMCs of Divilacan and Maconancon, PDRRMO Isabela personnel, the Provincial Government of Isabela, and all other volunteers and search teams to search for the missing aircraft.
The missing Cessna 206, which went missing for more than one month, was recently found by the search teams.
