TANAUAN, Batangas - In December 2021, Enrique Razon's Prime Infrastructure (Prime Infra) acquired a 50% stake in Solar Philippines Tanauan Corporation from Leandro Leviste's Solar Philippines, bringing a total investment of P3.5 billion for solar projects totaling 340 MW in the provinces of Batangas, Cavite, and Tarlac.

Solar project investment is expected to significantly contribute to the country's renewable energy goals and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.

According to Prime Infra, this transaction involves a P2 billion investment and management control for Prime. Following their previous closed project with Tarlac Corporation, this is Prime Infra's second investment in Solar Philippines projects.

The three projects will result in over 2,000 construction jobs and over 100 operational jobs. When completed, these projects will power over 200,000 homes.

Meanwhile, the Tanauan and Maragondon Solar Power Plants recently had a groundbreaking ceremony.

The 140-megawatt (MW) solar power plants should be operational by the end of the year. The power plants will have an annual capacity of approximately 202 gigatonnes, which is enough to power 84,000 homes.

According to Prime Infra and its project partner, PowerChina B7 Philippines Corporation, it will also move more than 100,000 tons of coal per year.

The facilities are an expansion of Solar Tanauan Corporation's 100-megawatt facility, which Razon purchased from Solar Philippines founder Leandro Leviste on February 23.

The project aims to provide a sustainable renewable energy source for the families of Tanauan and Maragondon while also benefiting the environment.

The expansion of the Solar Tanauan Corporation facility is an important step toward the country's goal of increasing renewable energy capacity. More households will have access to clean and affordable energy as a result of this project, resulting in a higher quality of life for the people living in these areas.

Included in the groundbreaking ceremony were Batangas Governor Dodo Mandanas, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, Maragondon Mayor Lawrence "Umbe" Arca, Tanauan City Mayor Nelson Collantes' daughter, Atty. Cristine Collantes, Maragondon Vice Mayor Bernie Ilagan, Solar Philippines Tanauan Corporation Chairwoman and Prime Infra's Ms. Katrina Razon, Mr. Hu Xinquan of Chinese Enterprises Philippine Association, Mr. Zhao Zhihao, and Mr. Bal Yongsheng of Power China Philil Philippines, Tanauan City Council members, Barangay Pantihan 2 and 3 Officials.
