TIAONG, Quezon - In order to increase access to higher education and improve the overall quality of life for these students, this town provided educational aid to college students, such as scholarships, grants, or financial assistance to help cover the cost of tuition, books, and other educational expenses.
Around 1,088 college students received financial assistance from the municipal government of Tiaong, Quezon, and the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). This was carried out to address the financial barriers that prevent students from pursuing higher education and to support the students' academic pursuits, which will ultimately contribute to the development of the community and the country as a whole.
It also demonstrates the government's commitment to investing in education as a means of empowering individuals and promoting social progress.
The town's local government claims that the aforementioned program, which is the only one the organization chose to provide cash assistance to, aims to help students who are unable to continue their education because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The assistance will go a long way toward covering their tuition and other academic expenses.
Each student who was a beneficiary was given 4,000 pesos. In addition, the regional government held a surprise raffle using the personal funds of the mayor, and the prize for each winner was 2,000 pesos.
Meanwhile, some tricycle drivers outside the Convention Center, where educational assistance was distributed, received assistance as well.
The act of kindness from the regional government and the mayor was greatly appreciated by the community, especially during these challenging times. It is heartwarming to see that even those who were not initially included in the program were still able to receive help from kind-hearted individuals.
