BATANGAS CITY - A recent Maternal and Child Health Care seminar was attended by Barangay Health Workers (BHW) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in Batangas City.
Senator Pia Cayetano's office facilitated the seminar in cooperation with the City Health Office with the goal of providing the BHW and BNS with knowledge and skills in maternal and child health care (CHO). Topics like safe delivery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and prenatal care were covered in the training.
The aforementioned seminar is being conducted in various provinces and towns in the country with the aim of raising women's knowledge about pregnancy and safeguarding their welfare and health, which is part of Senator Cayetano's advocacy.
Dr. Vivian Estaquio from the senator's office, served as a resource speaker and emphasized the proper care method and what should be done during pregnancy to prevent maternal and child's deaths.
The seminar covers topics such as proper nutrition, exercise, and prenatal care. It also provides information on the different stages of pregnancy and childbirth to help women make informed decisions about their health.
It is the presence of two or more years of pregnancy and the pre-natal visit to the doctor or the health center.
“Woman should come as soon as she know she's pregnant, preferably in her first trimester”, Dr. Estaquio.
She also discussed the risk factors for pregnant women and the danger signs of pregnancy.
She emphasized the importance of regular prenatal check-ups and seeking medical attention immediately if any of the danger signs occur. He emphasized that these risks can be addressed through effective family planning programs and services. Dr. Estaquio also mentioned the role of family support in ensuring a safe and healthy pregnancy for women.
Through Alternate Program Coordinator for Maternal and Child Health Lucie Resuello, the CHO expressed appreciation for the additional knowledge that the senator's group shared with the city's community health workers.
Following this, Sen. Cayetano's staff made a courtesy call to Mayor Beverley Dimacuha.
