TAGAYTAY, Cavite - Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) is confident that the alignment issue with SMC's project can be resolved through coordination and consultation with concerned stakeholders.
The Cavite-Tagaytay-Batangas Expressway (CTBEx) is expected to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the Calabarzon region, benefiting both commuters and businesses.
In 2018, MPTC was designated as the original proponent for the P25.24 billion.
The CTBEx will be 50.42 kilometers (31.33 miles) long and will have eight interchanges, making it easier to get to key areas in the region. It is also expected to boost local economic growth and tourism.
The CTBEx is expected to cut travel time from Cavite to Batangas from 3.5 hours to one hour, benefiting approximately 47,000 motorists daily. MPTC intends to address the issue of project alignment with SMC through coordination and consultation with the government.
The CTBEx is a large scale infrastructure project that will boost economic growth and improve regional connectivity. The MPTC's commitment to collaborating with the government and other stakeholders ensures that the project runs smoothly and efficiently.
The project aims to provide an alternative route for the Aguinaldo Highway and the Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road, which are both congested during peak hours and on weekends.
According to Raul Ignacio, president and general manager of MPTC unit MPT South Management Corp., they are already in discussions with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) about the proposed project and hope to submit the plan for review to the National Economic and Development Authority.
Meanwhile, the Cavite government and the SMC reached an agreement on the CBEx tollway concession agreement. SMC also signed a joint venture agreement with the Batangas government for the adjacent Nasugbu-Bauan Expressway.
The DPWH is now studying the two plans due to the overlaps in their alignments. According to Miguel Bonoan, DPWH secretary, they are finding out and solving the problems and glitches so that the two projects can start construction.
