MONTALBAN, Rizal - The encounter between the government and alleged communists has no longer posed a threat to several citizens of Montalban, particularly those from Barangay San Rafael, Macabud, Mascap, and Puray.
After more than a week of searching for the suspected group, operations and activities in some parts of town have resumed. Face-to-face classes that were impacted and disturbed as a result of the encounter have also begun, and families who had temporarily evacuated their homes for their safety have returned.
In support of the needs of the people, the local government personally distributed food packs to the affected families together with the LGU staff and some volunteers from the town in collaboration with various government agencies.
Because of this, the municipal government expressed gratitude to everyone who volunteered their time and participated in the effort to help the town's residents.
Local governments assured residents affected by the incident that they would receive assistance. They also urged the community to remain calm and cooperative in order to avoid similar incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, in light of the incident in Montalban, Mayor Ronnie Evangelista reminded the public to be vigilant and not hesitate to report any illegal activities to authorities, particularly those suspected of being involved in terrorism.
"The Montalban Town Government strongly condemns and will never allow anyone to sow fear and terror in this town," Evangelista's said.
