ATIMONAN, Quezon - The second reading of the Quezon Provincial Sangguaniang Panlalawigan approved an ordinance in the town of Atimonan, Quezon, that will provide financial assistance to single parents of their municipality.

The financial assistance is intended to alleviate the financial burden placed on single parents in providing for their families and supporting their children’s education. This program will greatly benefit single parents in Atimonan, Quezon, by improving their quality of life.

Under the committee on Social Welfare led by 2nd District Board Member Vinnette Alcala-Naca after the Municipal Ordinance No. 2023-375 of the Municipality of Atimonan, Quezon, entitled “An Ordinance Institutionalizing the Programs, Services, Privileges and Benefits for Solo Parents and their Children and Appropriating Funds thereof and for other purposes pursuant to republic act 8972, otherwise known as the Solo Parents Act of 2000” was unanimously approved in the deliberation of the Regular Session of the Sangguaniang Panlalawigan ng Quezon on the morning of March 27.

For the children of single parents, the program includes job training, counseling, and educational assistance. This initiative aims to empower and support single parents in Atimonan, Quezon, by providing them with the resources they need to improve their well-being.

According to the board member’s report to the Plenary, there are 700 single parents in the town of Atimonan, 20 of whom are receiving ₱10,000 in cash assistance, claiming to be legitimate indigent single parents in that area, but the estimated number of registered single parents will receive ₱5,000 one time under the ordinance.

The initiative is crucial as it addresses the needs of single parents, who often struggle to provide for their families on their own. The cash assistance provided will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the lives of these individuals and help improve their overall quality of life.
