SAN PABLO CITY - Richard Villanueva, a young farmer and member of the 4-H Club San Pablo of Brgy. San Isidro, and the official delegate to the Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program (YFFLTP) in Japan, is congratulated by Congressman Loreto Amante, 3rd District of Laguna; Mayor Vicente Amante; and City Administrator Larry Amante.
He is one of 22 young farmers from different regions throughout the Philippines who will train in Japan for 11 months, from April 2023 to March 2024.
Villanueva's achievement is a testament to the potential of youth in agriculture, and highlights the importance of programs that empower and train young farmers. His experience in Japan will undoubtedly contribute to the development of San Pablo's agricultural sector.
The young delegates first underwent 3 months of training in various agricultural technologies and learned the Nihongo language from January to March 2023.
During his stay in Japan, he gained valuable insights into advanced agricultural practices and technologies that he can apply. With his newly acquired skills and knowledge, he can help improve the productivity and efficiency of the city's agricultural sector.
The said training program is a partnership between the Department of Agriculture and the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council to help young farmers become good entrepreneurs and farmer leaders.
The program includes various modules such as farm management, marketing, and technology transfer to equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge. It aims to create a sustainable and competitive agricultural sector that can contribute to the economic growth of the city.
The San Pablo Office of the City Agriculturist is grateful to the Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute, the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council, Congressman Loreto Amante, Mayor Vicente Amante, and City Administrator Larry Amante for continuing to support all of their agricultural programs, particularly those aimed at assisting the city's young farmers.
