BUENAVISTA, Quezon - The town of Buenavista aimed to equip its youth with leadership skills and empower them to become change agents in their respective communities through various workshops and activities, so the local government organized a summit to cultivate and develop the talents and leadership skills of the youth.
Over 400 youth from various schools and barangays in the town gathered for the first Youth Leadership Summit, whose theme was "The Youth of Today, the Perspective of Tomorrow's Development," held on April 15 and 16 in Brgy. Poblacion and Brgy. Mabutag.
The summit's opening ceremony featured keynote speakers from the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Hon. Alvin Ray Rivera, Commander Area Police Command Southern Luzon, Police Lieutenant General Rhoderick Amamento, 85IB led by Lieutenant Colonel Joel R Jonson, and Congressman Reynante Arrogancia.
The summit included a variety of activities and workshops aimed at improving the youth participants' leadership skills. Guest speakers shared their own success stories and provided valuable leadership insights at the event. The event was a success, and it paved the way for future collaborations among the town's youth leaders.
The participants were able to expand their knowledge of leadership principles and strategies, as well as their level of comprehension of those topics.
There was participation from a variety of young people's organizations in this event, which was also organized by the Junior Police in conjunction with the City Government and the Philippine National Police to assist in the promotion of peace and order in the municipality.
The summit gave youth the chance to meet law enforcement officers and learn about their duties. This event is meant to inspire youth to become responsible citizens and improve their community.
Various agency representatives shared ideas and lessons as part of the program. Youth Situationer, Junior Police Perspective, Livelihood Program and Employment, Reflection/Recollection/Moral Recovery, Leadership Development, Parliamentary Procedure, Decision Making, Tourism Perspective, and Youth Cooperativism are among the topics covered. As teenagers, they were also taught to create an agenda.
Its purpose is to provide additional and correct knowledge of leadership and to be guided on the right path in life; Its purpose is to awaken the social consciousness to help them develop a critical understanding of themselves and to know their responsibilities for the community they belong to.
Because young people are also the true hope of our people, one of the goals of 85IB for young people like them is to assist everyone in developing a better understanding of their responsibilities in the construction of a just and peaceful society in the future. This was stated in the message that Lieutenant Colonel Jonson sent to them.
