CAINTA, Rizal - With assistance from the Single Entry Approach (SENA) of the Department of Labor and Employment in the Calabarzon region, three workers in Cainta, which is located in the province of Rizal, were able to return to their jobs and were each given a payment of 90,000.
SENA is a DOLE program that offers a quick and non-adversarial approach to resolving labor disputes. Its goal is to foster harmonious labor-management relations and to prevent cases from being filed in courts or other adjudicatory bodies.
According to the notification provided by the agency, three employees went to the DOLE office in Rizal after they were not given their full pay for the 13th month, insufficient pay for holidays, service incentive leave, and separation pay.
The aforementioned workers claim that their employer fired them without following proper procedures at the dog food factory where they worked.
In a SENA meeting, the employer explained that the failure to provide full benefits to workers was due to the pandemic's impact.
They said the shortage in the supply of corn, which is one of the main ingredients in the production of dog food, added to it.
In the end, the workers and their employers reached an agreement.
