SAN MATEO, Rizal - The Department of Health (DOH) awarded the Municipal Health Office (MHO) of San Mateo with a plaque during the Malaria-Free Regional Celebration on Monday, April 17th, at the Novotel Hotel in Araneta City, Cubao, Quezon City, for their efforts in keeping the town malaria-free.
According to the San Mateo MHO, this achievement was made possible by the full cooperation of the local government unit and health workers in implementing effective malaria prevention and control measures.
Vice Mayor Jimmy Roxas, Councilor Leo Buenviaje, and the medical technologists of MHO under the direction of Ms. Wilma Nartatez, Ms. Regine Baitlon, and Nurse Dororthy Cabanit all received recognition plaques.
San Mateo Rizal Public Information Office stated in a statement that "this recognition serves as an inspiration for other towns to work toward a malaria-free community."
Meanwhiel, San Mateo MHO also emphasized the importance of community involvement in reaching this milestone, as well as the need to continue efforts to prevent the re-emergence of malaria in the town.
They urged everyone to maintain good hygiene and environmental management in order to keep San Mateo malaria-free.
