IMUS CITY, Cavite - Hundreds of Philippine flags can be seen along the Emilio Aguinaldo Highway and other major roads in Imus City a few days before the commemoration of National Flag Day.

The city government and various organizations have joined forces to display the flags as a way of showing their patriotism and love for the country.

Additionally, this initiative aims to remind the public of the significance of the Philippine flag and its role in shaping the nation's history.

National Flag Day is celebrated every May 28 in memory of the heroism and courage of the Filipino Rebels on May 28, 1898, when the Philippine flag was first waved after the successful Battle of Alapan.

The Philippine flag represents the country's struggle for independence and sovereignty. It serves as a symbol of unity, patriotism, and identity among Filipinos all over the world.

This also marks the beginning of the Philippine Independence Day celebration.

The flag's colors also hold significant meanings: blue represents peace, red symbolizes bravery and sacrifice, while the white triangle stands for equality and brotherhood.

The Philippine flag has undergone several changes throughout history, but its importance and symbolism remain unchanged.

With the theme, “Freedom. The next day. Kasaysayan,” this year celebrates the 125th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

The flag was first hoisted on June 12, 1898, when the Philippines declared independence from Spain. This momentous occasion is commemorated every year as Independence Day in the Philippines.
