GENERAL NAKAR, Quezon - The local government of General Nakar and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) inaugurated the Nutribun Production Facility in Brgy. Anoling in response to the nutritional needs of the local community.
The facility will produce fortified food products that are specifically designed to address malnutrition and improve the health of the community.
This initiative is part of a larger effort to promote sustainable development and improve the overall well-being of the people in the region.
Mayor Eliseo Ruzol and Provincial Director Maria Esperanza Jawili of DOST-Quezon led the inauguration and blessing of the said facility, which is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and staffed by highly trained healthcare professionals.
In addition, the facility will also provide accessible and affordable healthcare services to the residents of the community, particularly those who are marginalized and underserved.
This local government unveiled the first nutribun production facility in the REINA-POGI area, or the northern part of Quezon Province.
The year 2020 was when the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) launched the enhanced nutribun made from pumpkin.
This is in response to the need for more nutritious food in support of the government's supplementary feeding program during the community quarantine, as stated in the Department of Social Welfare and Development Memorandum Circular No. 12 Series of 2020.
