LUCENA CITY - Under the leadership of Gov. Dr. Angelina Tan of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), the province of Quezon was recently named for the third time as the Gender and Development Local Learning Hub (GADLLH) for the whole country. This was seen as a sign of the province's skill and talent in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.
PCW Deputy Executive Director of Operations Kristine Josefina G. Balmes personally welcomed the PGAD staff through Ms. Sonia Leyson and the province of Quezon in order to ensure that the programs address current issues regardless of the individual's gender identity.
The GADLLH aims to strengthen the capacity of LGUs and CSOs in implementing gender-responsive programs and services, as well as promote gender equality and women's empowerment in the country.
Through this initiative, PCW hopes to create a society where everyone has equal opportunities and access to resources, regardless of their gender.
PCW also works closely with various government agencies and civil society organizations to ensure that gender mainstreaming is integrated into policies and programs at all levels.
Vice Governor Third Alcala presided over the Provincial Council, which was present for the ceremonial awarding and signing of the partnership agreement.
With its efforts to address gender-based violence and promote women's economic empowerment, Quezon Province serves as a model for its contributions to gender and development programs.
