ANGONO, Rizal - The Provincial Government of Rizal recognized two Rizaleño athletes who brought home medals from international weightlifting competitions.
The two athletes, Lovely Inan and Prinsipe Kiel Delos Santos, were awarded certificates of recognition and cash incentives during a ceremony held at the Rizal Provincial Capitol.
Rizal Provincial Governor Nina Ynares presented the said awards to the athletes, expressing her pride and admiration for their hard work and dedication in representing the province in international competitions.
She also encouraged other young athletes to follow in their footsteps and strive for excellence in their chosen sports.
Inan, 18, won the silver medal in the 49-kilogram women's weightlifting category at the 2023 Southeast Asia Games held in Cambodia.
Meanwhile, Delos Santos, 15, brought home two gold and one silver medal for the weightlifting category during the International Weightlifting Federation - World Youth Championship in Albania.
Ynares also mentioned that Delos Santos' success in weightlifting is a testament to the importance of discovering and nurturing young talents in sports. She added that the local government of Rizal, where Angono is located, is committed to supporting and promoting sports development programs for the youth.
