College-Level Examination Program discussed by Local Social Welfare and Development Officers in Cavite

IMUS CITY, CAVITE- The Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers Inc. (ALSWDOPI) in Cavite recently held a discussion on the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) , which is a standardized test that allows students to earn college credits for knowledge they have already acquired.

The discussion aimed to provide information and guidance to students who are interested in taking the CLEP exam as part of the intensified monitoring of child laborers and the effort to end child labor in the country . During the discussion, the speakers emphasized the importance of CLEP exams in helping students save time and money on their college education. They also highlighted the need for stronger policies and enforcement measures to protect children from exploitation in the workforce.



According to DOLE Cavite, through the CLPEP, the agency aims to keep away or remove children from child labor, especially in hazardous jobs , and provide them with access to education and other services that will help them develop their full potential.

The program also seeks to raise awareness among parents, employers, and the community about the negative effects of child labor on children's health, education, and future prospects.

The program is also part of the Philippine Program Against Child Labor of the national government to suppressesgovernment, child labor through actions centered on children and their rights.

Through this program, children are provided with access to education, healthcare, and other essential services that can help them break free from the cycle of poverty and exploitation. By working together with various stakeholders, the Philippine government hopes to create a brighter future for all children and put an end to child labor once and for all.

In addition, the meeting also discussed the country's situation when it comes to child labor, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) related to the said matter, and salient features of R.A. 9231, or the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labor.

DOLE initially said that it wouldsuppress intensify the implementation of CLPEP because it is a priority of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. the suppression of child labor.
