LIPA CITY, Batangas - Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas reminded us that all proposed projects must be included in the Batangas Provincial Government's Annual Investment Plan in order to be funded.

This is a portion of the message that the Batangas Governor will deliver at the Joint Full Council Meeting of the Provincial Development Council, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, and Provincial Peace and Order Council on June 2, 2023, at the Provincial Auditorium in Kapitolyo, Batangas City.

Among the projects proposed are those related to social services, peace and order, and safety management, as well as community development and infrastructure.

The councils also discussed how to maximize project funding to ensure success. They also stressed the importance of sector and stakeholder collaboration in achieving their province's development goals.

Agriculture, natural resources, and tourism economic services received additional funding. The proposed projects improve residents' quality of life and promote sustainable development in the province. Economic services funding should boost the local economy and create jobs.

The governor made it clear that the discussed proposed budget, with a total cost of ₱8 Million, is only an addition or supplemental for the year 2023.

The provincial government's response to Nasugbu Town's Central Azucarera Don Pedro Inc. closure was also discussed. The council was informed that the province is helping sugarcane growers. The AIP supplemental budget could include funds for the sugarcane growers' association.

In response to the challenge of climate change, and the expected El Niño phenomenon, PDRRMC projects are being prepared. Proposals for the utilization of the disaster management fund for the year 2023 were also laid before the Batangas PDRRMO council.

In the ranks of the POC, the current peace and order situation in the province prepared by the Philippine National Police Batangas Provincial Office was discussed, while representatives of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Batangas Province also submitted suggestions that will form the Batangas POC Provincial Audit Team.

On the matter of the environment, the governor laid out the plan for the construction of the Batangas Marine Biodiversity Center and the promoted use of clean energy in the province, and study of the operations of all small-scale mining in the province.
