KAWIT, Cavite - As the Philippines celebrated its 125th anniversary of independence on June 12, 2023, the historic Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite, took center stage.
The shrine served as the venue for the flag-raising ceremony and wreath-laying activity, attended by government officials and dignitaries. It was also open to the public for guided tours and cultural presentations showcasing the country's rich history and heritage.
There was a gathering of dignitaries and high-ranking government officials to celebrate the country's heritage and remember those who fought for independence.
A flag raising ceremony, wreath laying, and cultural program highlighting the country's rich history were all part of the event.
The ceremony was held in the house that once housed Emilio Aguinaldo, the first president of the Philippines, and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin was the guest of honor.
Notable attendees included Kawit Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo, Cavite 1st District Representative Jolo Revilla, and Cavite 7th District Representative Crispin Diego “Ping” Remulla. Their presence represented harmony as the nation celebrated its freedom.
Amidst the drizzle and wind, the Philippine flag was raised in a solemn ceremony to kick off the day. The ceremony was a moving tribute to the countless lives lost in the fight for freedom.
Kawit's municipal government and the province as a whole also coordinated numerous events aimed at strengthening the local community. The government's efforts to better the lives of its citizens were on display at events like a job fair, trade fair, and medical mission.
