ALABAT, Quezon - Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) distributed aid to senior citizens and the indigent in Alabat, Quezon, recently.
The distribution of aid was part of the agency's ongoing efforts to help those who are most in need during these challenging times.
PCSO Director Janet De Leon-Mercado personally went to the island and distributed the 500 food packs.
Mercado said this is related to the mandate of their office to help the poor and needy; and also in accordance with the order of the national government to reach every corner of the country to deliver aid to the Filipino people.
She also said that they will continue to provide assistance to those who are affected by the pandemic and other calamities and that they are committed to fulfilling their duty as public servants.
Besides carrying 500 food packs, the agency also distributed free medicines to the residents of Alabat Island.
The locals expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance and greatly appreciated the agency's efforts.
The agency plans to conduct more relief operations in other areas to help more Filipinos in need.
The town government, led by Mayor Jose Ramil Arquiza and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO), expressed their gratitude to the office for the assistance received for their residents.
Mayor said that the free medicines provided by the agency greatly helped alleviate the health concerns of the people in Alabat Island, especially during these challenging times.
The MSWDO also mentioned that they are looking forward to future collaborations with the agency to further improve the welfare of their constituents.
