GENERAL LUNA, Quezon - The P5.5 million piggery project in the town of General Luna, Quezon was formally inaugurated recently.
The said facility is part of the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) program of the Department of Agriculture that aims to restore the vitality of the swine industry by breeding pigs to increase its production and ensure that there is an adequate supply of food. which is affordable.
The facility is equipped with modern technologies such as automated feeding and waste management systems. It is expected to boost the local economy and provide employment opportunities for the community.
General Luna Mayor Matt Florido led the facility's inauguration, saying that the new facility will not only increase pork production but also improve meat quality.
He said this will help meet the growing demand for high-quality pork products in the local and international markets.
The new facility is in Brgy. San Nicolas, which is well-known for its agricultural industry, and the addition of this modern pig facility will strengthen the town's reputation as a source of high-quality agricultural products.
The Farming Group plans to work closely with local businesses and restaurants to promote the sale of their pork products, which will ultimately benefit the entire community.
Representatives of the Department of Agriculture-Calabarzon, the Quezon Provincial Veterinary Office and town government officials attended the opening of the facility.
The construction of the bio-secured and climate-controlled finisher operation facility began in August of last year, when the said organization also received initial piglets and feed.
This project has technology that can control the climate in the facility, the proper storage of basic farm equipment, pig feed, baths, and more.
