ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal - Fishermen are brave individuals who navigate the unpredictable waters, braving the elements to bring fresh seafood to our tables. Their dedication and hard work deserve recognition, as they contribute significantly to sustaining our local economy and providing nourishment for countless families.

In line with International Fishermen's Day, the Provincial Agriculturist's Office (PAO) recognized the vital contributions of fishermen in sustaining the local economy and providing a steady supply of fresh seafood to the community.

The PAO organized a special event to honor these hardworking individuals, where they were given fishing gear, technical assistance, and supplies of Tilapia fingerlings to support the livelihood of fishermen and enhance their fishing capabilities.

Training programs are also conducted to educate fishermen on sustainable fishing practices and promote environmental conservation.

These training programs cover topics such as proper handling and storage of catch, responsible fishing techniques, and the importance of protecting marine habitats.

PAO collaborates with local communities to establish marine protected areas and implement regulations to prevent overfishing and preserve fish populations for future generations.

According to PAO , these efforts have led to a noticeable increase in the abundance of fish species and the overall health of marine ecosystems.

PAO works closely with government agencies and international organizations to advocate for sustainable fishing policies and raise awareness about the importance of preserving our oceans.

The event was attended by government officials, local farmers, and agricultural experts who shared valuable insights and knowledge on modern farming techniques.

In addition, the local government is also partnering with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to provide them with motor boats, training and capacity development seminars, and fish landing centers for our fisherman associations.

These initiatives aim to improve the livelihoods of local fishermen and ensure the sustainability of their fishing practices.

By equipping them with the necessary resources and knowledge, the local government is actively supporting the growth of a thriving and responsible fishing industry in the region.

Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) is also there in cooperation with the cleaning of waterlilies and fisherman's associations. They work together to maintain the cleanliness of the lake and promote sustainable fishing practices.

The LLDA also conducts regular monitoring and enforcement activities to ensure that fishing activities comply with regulations and do not harm the lake's ecosystem.
