TRECE MARTIRES, Cavite - The additional construction works at the Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DATRC) in Trece Martires, Cavite, aim to enhance the facilities and services provided to individuals seeking treatment for drug abuse.
Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangamdaman recently approved the release of over P48.8 million to the Department of Health (DOH) to complete the implementation of the construction works at DATRC.
This funding will not only cover the remaining costs for the project but also ensure that the center is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and resources to support effective rehabilitation programs. With these enhancements, DATRC will be able to provide a more comprehensive and holistic approach to addressing drug abuse and helping individuals on their path to recovery.
"Among the priorities of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is to not just fully enforce the law when it comes to illegal drug use and abuse but also to focus on the rehabilitation of victims or drug users," Secretary Pangandaman said.
The fund will be chargeable against the Grant Proceeds from the Japan International Cooperation Agency's Program for Consolidated Rehabilitation of Illegal Drug Users (JICA-CARE) Automatic Appropriations under FY 2023 of the General Appropriations Act (GAA).
"The government will see to it that the upkeep of the country's existing facilities for drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation will continue by allotting the necessary budget for that purpose,” the Budget Secretary added. (with reports from DBM)
