DOST-CALABARZON conducts this year’s Team Building, pushes for more effective organizational communication among staff
Team Building Program: Better Workplace through Effective Organizational Communication.

LAIYA, Batangas - Through its Human Resource Management Unit and the Supply and Property Unit of the Finance and Administrative Services Division (FAS), DOST-CALABARZON conducted this year's "Team Building Program: Better Workplace through Effective Organizational Communication" through a series of activities for its workforce last June 7, 2023 at the Palm Beach Resort, Laiya, Batangas.

The program aims to strengthen communication among members of the organization to enhance team dynamics and performance.

Ms. Emelita P. Bagsit, Regional Director of DOST-CALABARZON shared the importance of conducting such activities to the staff of the organization.

She remarked, “We want to sustain the DOST-CALABARZON team, and though building a team is not a one to two-day event but a daily grind, it is also important to have an annual team building kasi rarely tayo mag-meet physically to bond and have a ‘neutral venue’ to interact and have fun.”

When asked to compare last year’s activities with the current ones, Ms. Lyn Alcantara Fernandez, Assistant Regional Director for the Finance and Administrative Services (FAS), mentioned that her team prepared early and involved both the Technical Operations (TO) Division and the Provincial S&T Offices (PSTOs) in their planning process.

“We ensured na lahat ng suggestions ng mga staff ay ginawan namin ng paraan na masunod,” she remarked. Moreover, the team plans to hold a committee meeting to evaluate this year’s Team Building Program and its potential improvements to gear up for the next.

According to Ms. Judy Mae Recto of the FAS-HR, this year’s theme aims to increase productivity and deliver more effective science, technology, and innovation to the organization’s clients by properly addressing workplace stress management and enhancing organizational communication through collaborative team-building activities and webinars.

Ultimately, however, the Team Building Program gives importance to harmonizing staff.

“Ang pinaka importance po ng mga gantong events for us ni Kuya John is mapasaya talaga lahat ng staff kasi alam namin yung hardwork and pagod nila sa office,” she remarked, “We really make sure na ‘yung mga gantong event is almost perfect para makapag-relax lahat and mawala rin yung barrier or gap between management and COS.”

Currently, DOST-CALABARZON has a total of 98 Contract of Service (COS) personnel.

RD Bagsit echoed such sentiments, “I hope we will all work for our common vision and goals as an organization,” she said, “We may have differences but I hope that at the end of the day, we will always find the resolve to work for the common good of everyone and the best interest of the public that we serve.”

As part of its activities, a webinar on "Communicating the Language of GAD in the Workplace and in the Community" was also conducted yesterday, June 6, 2023 which featured Dr. Ma. Helen Dayo of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).
