LUCENA CITY - Eighty-six registered corn farmers in the city recently receive agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, and seeds to support their corn production.
They also receive two bags of yellow hybrid corn seeds, synthetic fertilizer such as urea as well as complete fertilizer, and Bio-N.
The local government offers these inputs as part of its initiatives to promote sustainable farming methods and boost crop yields.
The program was led by the City Agriculturist Office under the supervision of OIC Jirah Lou Merano, with Mayor Mark Alcala and Vice Mayor Roderick Alcala.
This is part of the Department of Agriculture's Corn Productivity Enhancement Program that is being rolled out in different areas of the country.
Merano said that the program aims to provide farmers with the necessary resources to improve their corn production and increase their income.
She also said this program aims to increase the production of yellow corn in Lucena and even in the entire country.
Thee local government hopes to encourage farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices that will not only benefit their own livelihoods but also contribute to the overall agricultural development of the region.
Beneficiaries here are legitimate corn farmers who are registered in the Registry System For Basic Sectors In Agriculture (RSBSA) and have 5 hectares of corn plantations
The recipients expressed their appreciation for the local government's assistance in granting them access to necessary resources like premium seeds, fertilizer, and cutting-edge farming methods.
