SAN MATEO, Rizal - A few students from various barangays in this area attended the Student Employment Assistance Program (SEAP) orientation on July 11 at the San Mateo Municipal College (SMMC) Guinea Campus.
The program was conducted by the Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) to provide information and guidance to students interested in participating in the SEAP.
SEAP is mandated by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and supported by the San Mateo Municipal Government.
PESO-OOIC Marizza Cabug-Os discussed what they need to know about SEAP, such as Office Decorum, Compensation, and the Deployment process.
She also emphasized the importance of meeting DOLE's qualifications and requirements in order to be eligible for the program.
Cabug-Os emphasized the numerous benefits and opportunities that SEAP provides to students, such as valuable work experience and financial assistance for their education.
The purpose of this program is to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students and out-of-school youth (OSY) for 10 days and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers during summer and/or Christmas vacation or any time of the year to augment the family’s income and help ensure that beneficiaries are able to pursue their education.
Students and OSYs who participate in SEAP can earn money to cover their expenses while also gaining valuable on-the-job training that will improve their employability in the future.
This program not only provides financial assistance but also provides them with practical skills and experience that will help them advance in their careers.
Furthermore, SEAP promotes inclusivity by prioritizing those in greatest need and ensuring that opportunities are provided to those who would otherwise struggle to obtain employment and education.
The first group of beneficiaries is expected to begin work on Monday, July 17th.
This year, the Dole has allocated funds to cover 40% of the salary of 160 qualified individuals aged 15 to 30 who will participate in the SEAP program and will serve in various city government offices for 20 days.
In addition, the city government has provided P3.4 million to cover the remaining 60% of their salaries as well as the full salaries of the additional 411 students who performed service in their respective barangays for 10 days.
