BATANGAS CITY - A state-of-the-art grandstand with modern design and cultural elements, as well as advanced amenities, is set to be built in Batangas.

The grandstand will not only serve as a venue for various events and gatherings, but it will also highlight the rich heritage and traditions of the local community.

With its impressive 6,000-seat capacity, will be able to accommodate a large number of people, making it an ideal venue for various events and gatherings in Batangas.

Its ceiling design is inspired by Isla Verde mats, and there is space for indoor games, meeting and VIP rooms, athletes quarters, and leasable commercial spaces.

The groundbreaking ceremony for said project was held on July 20, 2023, and was led by Mayor Beverley Dimacuha and Congressman Congressman Marvey Mariño. Symbolizing the strong partnership between the local government and the community in promoting sports and cultural activities

Mayor Beverley said that when the grandstand is completed, it will provide many opportunities for the city to host various sports events and cultural activities.

She also stated that the project demonstrates the city's commitment to fostering a vibrant sports and cultural scene, attracting both local and international visitors to boost tourism and economic growth.

"This will provide economic benefits because it will serve as a venue for local and national sports events, cultural shows, and entertainment activities," she added.

She emphasized that this will also be a venue for Batangueno athletes to showcase their abilities and gain exposure on a larger stage, which she believes will inspire young players to persevere.

Mariño, on the other hand, stated that the grandstand has long been a dream of Batanguenos but was put on hold because the administration prioritized responding to the pandemic and addressing more pressing needs.

However, now that the situation has improved, they are finally able to prioritize the construction of the grandstand and fulfill the long-awaited dream of the Batanguenos. This project will not only benefit athletes and performers, but it will also boost tourism and contribute to the overall development of the community.

He noted that it is expected to be completed in 2025. The unveiling of the perspective view of the proposed grandstand and the laying of the time capsule were both part of the ceremony to mark the start of the construction phase.

The laying of the time capsule symbolized the preservation of Batangas' rich history and culture, ensuring that future generations will remember this significant milestone in their development.
