CARMONA CITY, Cavite - The City of Carmona recently previewed their new state-of-the-art operations center to the Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), showcasing their advanced technology and efficient response systems.

In conjunction with the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month, the PDRRMO organized a study tour to Carmona to learn from their best practices in disaster risk reduction and management.

The tour provided an opportunity for PDRRMO officials to witness firsthand how Carmona's operations center effectively coordinates emergency response efforts and utilizes cutting-edge technology to enhance disaster resilience. This exchange of knowledge and experiences will undoubtedly contribute to the continuous improvement of disaster preparedness in the province of Quezon.

According to Rommel Peneyra, Carmona City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head, the new operations center can monitor various strategic locations in the city, such as roads, rivers, and barangays, using 300 CCTVs and LED walls to effectively monitor and quickly respond to incidents.

"For the past few consecutive years, CDRRMO Carmona has been recognized in the Philippines as one of the best and fastest responders to the 100,000 residents who live in 14 barangays in the city," said Peneyra.

The Quezon PDRRMO accompanied members of the STANd UPPPP Quezon Media Network on a field trip to the said facility to learn about the effective measures the city is taking in responding to the disaster.

The operations center houses city offices such as the Carmona CDRRMO, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Mayor's Office.

It can also be used in skills training seminars and other gatherings related to prevention, preparation, response, and recovery from any type of disaster.

The operations center began to be used on February 17, 2023, under the leadership of Carmona Mayor Dahlia Loyola.
