IMUS, Cavite - The toll hike on CAVITEX, which is set to begin on August 21, has sparked concerns among commuters and motorists. Many are worried about the increased financial burden this will place on them, especially during these challenging times.

According to a report, motorists traversing the Parañaque Toll Plaza, Longos, Bacoor City, and Kawit (and vice versa) and at the Kawit Toll Plaza will be charged anew starting midnight on August 21, after the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) approved the 2017 periodic toll petition of joint venture partners Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) and Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), for the toll rate adjustments.

Cavitex, officially known as the Manila-Cavite Road, is a 14-kilometer (8.7-mile) controlled-access toll expressway that connects Manila to the Philippines' southern province of Cavite.

It is one of the major thoroughfares in the region, providing a faster and more convenient route for commuters and motorists.

CAVITEX motorists traveling from MIAA Exit to Longos, Bacoor (and vice versa) would be charged the following rates: Php 35.00 for Class 1, Php 70.00 for Class 2, and Php 104.00 for Class 3.

Meanwhile, motorists traversing Longos, Bacoor, and Kawit (and vice versa) would be charged at the Kawit Toll Plaza Php 73.00 for Class 1, Php 146.00 for Class 2, and Php 219.00 for Class 3.

The increase in toll rates helps maintain a safe and high-quality expressway for our motorists.

CIC and PRA said they will also reactivate the Abante Card program for Class 1 and Class 2 PUV drivers and operators.

It will allow them to continue to enjoy the old toll rates for a period of three months through a rebate program.

These toll fees are subject to periodic adjustments based on government regulations.

According to officials, commuters and motorists can expect improvements in the expressway's infrastructure and services as a result of the increase in toll rates.

This includes better road maintenance, enhanced safety measures, and improved facilities along the expressway. (with reports from PIA Cavite)
