TIAONG, Quezon - The Department of Education (DepEd) Quezon, on Friday, August 11, 2023 launched the 2023 Brigada Eskwela at Cabay National High School in Tiaong, Quezon.
The event emphasized more bayanihan spirit, cooperation, and collaboration among its stakeholders and partners in order to ensure school preparation for the upcoming school year. Cleaning, painting, and repairing were among the operations carried out to improve the learning environment for pupils.
This year's launch, themed "Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan," was graced by Quezon Governor Angelina Tan and attended by Tiaong Mayor Arjay Vincent Mea, members of the Tiaong Town Council, and representatives from various local organizations.
The event showcased the power of collective action and highlighted the importance of collaboration between different sectors in ensuring quality education for the youth.
It also emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to address educational inequities and provide equal opportunities for all students.
The event also brought together teachers, students, parents, and community members who volunteered their time and effort to clean and repair the school facilities, creating a conducive learning environment for the students.
A program was also held in several towns at the same time, and Mayor Matt Erwin Florido of General Luna, Mayor Ruzol of General Nakar, and Mayor Webster Letargo of Gumaca spearheaded the efforts in their respective areas.
These mayors recognized the importance of education and worked together to ensure that all students in their towns had access to quality education.
It served as a platform for the mayors to exchange ideas and strategies for improving governance and providing better services to their respective communities.
Meanwhile, Mayor Mea distributed school bags and some school supplies to ensure that the children could focus on their studies and reduce their parents large expenses related to education.
Additionally, the program facilitated networking opportunities for local businesses, fostering economic growth and job creation in the participating towns.
It is estimated that there are 9,000 students in Tiaong, while 409 are teaching and non-teaching personnel here to support the educational needs of the students.
The program aimed to empower the youth and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for a brighter future.
During Mayor Mea's administration, it established a scholarship program, providing support to teachers and building additional classrooms for the convenient study of young people.
The program also focused on improving the quality of education by implementing innovative teaching methods and incorporating technology into the curriculum.
