CALAUAN, Laguna - The Calauan Community College (CCC), the first college established in Calauan, Laguna, inaugurated its new campus on Wednesday, August 23, for the school year 2023-2024, with the aim of providing accessible and quality education to the local community.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by local government officials, educators, and members of the community. The state-of-the-art facilities and modern classrooms of the college are expected to provide quality education and opportunities for the students of Calauan and its neighboring towns.

Calauan Mayor Roseller “Osel” Caratihan led the ceremony, along with Vice Mayor Allan Sanchez and members of the Sangguniang Bayan and captains of 17 barangays in the town, during which the college was officially inaugurated in the two-story building composed of four rooms borrowed from the Dayap National High School in Barangay Dayap here.

With an initial enrollment of 277 students, the college is off to a promising start. The CCC boasts a dedicated faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education in a conducive learning environment.

Jonathan de la Cruz, special assistant to the President of the Philippines, was the guest of honor and speaker during the program, which was also attended by students, teachers, and barangay officials.

According to Mayor Caratihan, the new college school is exclusive to residents of the town and aims to provide accessible and quality education to the youth.

The college offers the opportunity to study for free and offers a wide range of courses, including business administration, information technology, and tourism management.

The initial offering is a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Midwifery, with plans to expand the course offerings in the future based on the needs and demands of the community.

The mayor stated that CCC is the realization of his dreams of raising educational standards in the community and empowering youth with knowledge and skills.

He believes that by providing accessible education, the college will contribute to the overall development and progress of the community.

The mayor envisions CCC as a stepping stone for students to pursue higher education and secure better opportunities for themselves in the future.

The school has free Wi-Fi and will begin classes on August 29, with 15 faculty members scheduled to teach the freshmen.

The mayor emphasized that the CCC has a proposed construction design for the 1000-square-meter lot at the NHA site in Barangay Sto. Tomas Highway Road, which will be completed in the next two years with a P20 million budget, will accommodate more students and give state-of-the-art facilities.
