BATANGAS CITY - Another honor was awarded upon Batangas Gov. Hermilando Mandanas, who was named one of the Outstanding Local Chief Executives of the Philippines in the Provincial Governor Category for Luzon Island.

Gov. Mandanas was recognized for his superb leadership and dedication to serving the people of Batangas during the Gawad Parangal Awarding Ceremony of the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines, Inc. (ALSWDOPI) on August 15, 2023, in Lanang, Davao City.

His efforts in establishing numerous programs and projects that benefit the welfare of his residents have had a significant impact on the growth of the province.

His important contribution to increasing the funds of local governments in the country through the historic Mandanas-Garcia Supreme Court Ruling has also been recognized and praised.

Local governments now receive a higher part of national taxes, allowing them to better meet the needs and objectives of their specific communities.

The same recognition was given to Gov. Edwin Ongchuan of Northern Samar and Gov. Edwin Jubahildo of Danao, Zamboanga del Sur.

Meanwhile, Mandanas praised the department heads of the Batangas Provincial Government, and employees from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office have also received such recognition.

Sara Duterte, Vice President and Secretary of Education, also attended the event to show her support for the honorees and to underline the importance of their efforts in advancing education and social welfare.

She also praised the work of local governments and national agencies in attaining beneficial outcomes for their areas.
