CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - During the recent Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) CALABARZON recognized the outstanding performance of nutrition champions in Laguna.
Laguna was declared the Nutrition Honor Award (NHA) Performer for the year 2022 by the National Nutrition Council-Calabarzon. Teresita Ramos of PNAO was also honored as the 2022 Regional Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer.
The honor demonstrates the province's dedication to promoting and implementing effective nutrition programs and initiatives. This award recognizes Laguna's commitment to improving the overall health and well-being of its residents through long-term nutrition interventions.
NHA is a great honor for the local government units that have continuously implemented health programs for six years and have achieved significant improvements in the nutrition status of their communities, according to Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez.
He believes it will serve as motivation for other provinces to prioritize and invest in nutrition initiatives, resulting in improved health outcomes for all.
The NHA ceremony aimed to recognize these nutrition champions' efforts and contributions in promoting and implementing effective nutrition programs in their respective communities.
These nutrition champions have had a significant impact on their communities' well-being and health.
Hernandez also stated that they received this recognition as a result of the effective steps taken by the Provincial Government of Laguna, through the Provincial Nutrition Action Office (PNAO), to address malnutrition in the province and support government agencies' nutrition-related programs.
The PNAO has collaborated with local health centers, schools, and community organizations to educate and empower people about the importance of a well-balanced diet and healthy eating habits.
They have also worked with farmers and agricultural cooperatives to promote the production and consumption of nutritious foods sourced locally.
Through these efforts, the Laguna Provincial Government has established a long-term framework for combating malnutrition and ensuring the long-term health and well-being of its residents.
