SAN PASCUAL, Batangas - The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) harvest here has already exceeded 25 sacks of corn on half a hectare of land, demonstrating the high productivity and efficiency of the farming practices implemented in San Pascual.
According to Francisco Perez, a member of the San Pascual Cassava and Corn Farmers Association and one of the seven beneficiaries of Corn Production Project Harvest Day from the said association, the yield of 25 sacks of corn on half a hectare of land is a remarkable achievement.
They also extended their gratitude to the Provincial Government of Batangas, through Provincial Agriculturist, Dr. Rodrigo Bautista, for helping and supporting them, starting from lending a tractor to speed up agricultural activities, providing agricultural inputs, seeds, and fertilizers, and harvesting them.
According to Glecy Bejasa, Agriculturist II of OPAg, before providing this project for their beneficiaries, there was an orientation briefing that included the skills that farmers should know to manage their corn farm, from planting to fertilizing to things to do with the arrival of unexpected weather and insects.
OPAg ensured that there was always a dedicated allocation for various agricultural projects, such as corn, vegetable, and paddy fields, as well as agri-fisheries and other commodities to support the livelihoods of local farmers.
This allocation is crucial in ensuring that farmers have access to the necessary resources and training to effectively manage their farms and increase their productivity.
Furthermore, OPAg conducts monitoring and evaluation activities on a regular basis to assess the impact of these projects and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
