PAKIL, Laguna - Pakil Mayor Vince Soriano and the Department of Health (DOH) have signed a memorandum of agreement to be able to provide residents with septic tanks and improve sanitation in the community.
This partnership aims to address the growing need for proper waste management and ensure a healthier environment for the people of Pakil.
According to the mayor , the provision of septic tanks will help prevent the contamination of water sources and reduce the risk of waterborne diseases.
Pakil would receive P2.295 million from the national government under the terms of the agreement for the installation of 51 septic tanks for residents of Barangay Baño.
Soriano stated that the goal is to eliminate open defecation in the barangay and educate residents on proper sanitation practices.
He also said that the construction of septic tanks will contribute to the overall improvement of the community's hygiene and cleanliness.
He emphasized the importance of community participation in maintaining and properly utilizing these facilities to ensure their long-term effectiveness.
Furthermore, as part of efforts to keep Laguna de Bay clean and protect its ecosystem, the installation of septic tanks will prevent human waste from contaminating the lake's waters.
The signing ceremony took place at the Pakil Municipal Hall, with representatives from both the local government and the Department of Health in attendance.
