In a speech, Governor Tan emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between government agencies, the private sector, and communities to address malnutrition and ensure access to nutritious food for all residents.
She also expressed her commitment to supporting and implementing the PMNP initiatives in Quezon Province to achieve better nutrition outcomes for its constituents and improve the overall health and well-being of the community.
Additionally, she emphasized the need for multi-sectoral partnerships and the involvement of civil society organizations in addressing the root causes of malnutrition, such as poverty and lack of education.
Governor Tan highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable agriculture practices and investing in infrastructure to improve food production and distribution systems in the province.
Throughout this project, twenty-four (24) towns in the province of Quezon are among those that will implement the PMNP initiatives.

The DOH and DSWD launched the PMNP, a four-year project, to address malnutrition in the province. It aims to implement various interventions such as nutrition education, food supplementation, and improved access to healthcare services.
The project also aims to strengthen the capacity of local health and social welfare systems to effectively address malnutrition. By working together, the DOH and DSWD aim to create a comprehensive and holistic approach to combat malnutrition and improve the overall well-being of the province's residents.
The World Bank-funded project will be implemented in 275 municipalities, 13 regions, and 29 provinces, with a focus on local governments with a high number of stunted children or children under the age of five, as well as pregnant and nursing women.
These local government units (LGUs) were chosen based on specific characteristics or criteria, such as a high proportion of stunted children (17.5%) and a high level of poverty.
President Bongbong Marcos presided over the national launch of the PMNP in March, and Governor Tan was one of the panelists. At the event, the official talked about his knowledge and experience as a health advocate and how it helps him do his job as a public servant who wants to end the problem of malnutrition in the country.
