LUCENA CITY - Manuel Quezon was the first President of the Philippines and is known as the "Father of the National Language." He played a crucial role in advocating for Filipino independence and establishing a strong foundation for the country's government.

Former President Manuel Quezon's 145th birth anniversary was commemorated yesterday, August 19, 2023, at his monument in Block 4 of Perez Park in Lucena City led by Quezon Province Governor Angelina "Helen" Tan.



In her speech, the governor emphasized Quezon's contributions to the nation, emphasizing his efforts to promote education and social welfare programs.

"Quezon's commitment to public service and his dedication to uplifting the lives of Filipinos have left a lasting impact on our nation. His legacy continues to inspire us to strive for progress and unity as we work towards a better future for all." she said.



She also expressed gratitude for his leadership during a critical period in Philippine history, which paved the way for the country's progress and development.

"Quezon's visionary leadership and unwavering determination played a crucial role in shaping the modern Philippines. His steadfast commitment to democracy and nation-building has laid a strong foundation for our country's growth and prosperity. We owe much of our progress today to his transformative policies and enduring legacy," she added.

Tan also praised the leaders of the province's thirty-nine municipalities and two cities for their substantial contributions to the province's prosperity and development. 

She stated that their commitment and hard work have been instrumental in improving the lives of their constituents and generating economic growth in their respective localities.

She also stated that their collective efforts have been instrumental in shaping a better future for the Philippines as a whole.

"Their commitment to public service and their tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed, and their leadership has set an example for others to follow. The province owes much of its success to these leaders, who have worked tirelessly to address the needs and concerns of their communities. Their unwavering dedication is truly commendable and deserves recognition," the governor said.

Governor Tan believes that the dream of development in Quezon Province is becoming a reality due to the participation and unity of every municipal mayor in the province.

She highlighted the value of being firm and together in the face of any obstacles that could arise, just like the strong molave tree. Vice Governor Anacleto Alcala III and other local government representatives joined Tan in expressing their commitment to the development of Quezon Province. Quezon Province.

Together, they vowed to work hand in hand to ensure that the dreams of the people are turned into tangible achievements, making Quezon Province a shining example of growth and prosperity in the region.

Quezon Day, or August 19 each year, is proclaimed a national holiday throughout the country, not only in Quezon Province, to honor the birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon, the province's namesake, as enacted by Republic Act No. 6741 in 1989.

This day commemorates the province's rich history as well as the enduring legacy of its great leader. It is a moment for the people of Quezon to unite and celebrate their common heritage and hopes for a better future.
