LUCENA CITY - One of the highlights of the 62nd Lucena City Charter Day celebration was the recognition of top taxpayers and "Natatanging Lucenahins" by the city government.

For the "Coco Palm City of the South," Lucena City, today, August 20, 2023, is a historical non-working holiday commemorating the city's founding and progress over the years as ratified by Republic Act No. 3271, also known as "An Act Creating the City of Lucena."

As part of the festivities, the city government has chosen to honor the exemplary contributions of its top taxpayers and outstanding Lucenahins. This recognition serves as a testament to their dedication and commitment to the growth and development of the city.

Lucena City Mayor Mark Don Victor Alcala said the list of awardees who have made big contributions to the city and its economy deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated.

"The recognition of top taxpayers serves as a way to encourage others to fulfill their civic duty and contribute to the growth and development of Lucena City." he said in a speech during the awarding ceremony.

Mayor Alcala also emphasized that the city government will continue to provide support and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, as their success directly contributes to the overall progress of Lucena City.

Furthermore, according to Vice Mayor Rhoderick Alcala, honoring outstanding Lucenahins demonstrates the city's admiration for its inhabitants, who have excelled in numerous sectors and have become role models for the community.

FO3 Jan Vincent Alba; Government/Community Service, John Bunyan Calamigan III; Community Service, Paul Eric Roca; Visual Arts, Rowela Caperina; Education, Rozaldie Chua; Business Entrepreneur, Trade and Industry, Dr. Maria Delta Canela; Medicine, at Edna Estifania; Professional are the Natatanging Lucenahin 2023 awardees.

"Although the main reason for the celebration is the Lucena City Charter Day, the Gawad Parangal honors Lucenahin pride in his race of origin. On August 20th, the local government recognized the success that resulted from the unmeasurable contributions of our constituents who led in their respective fields," he stated.

Sponsors have also given recognition, as has a centenarian awardee, to highlight the accomplishments and contributions of individuals and organizations in Lucena City.

He added, "I thanked top business taxpayers for national and local businesses for their continuous support and contributions to the growth and development of our city. Their dedication and commitment to our community have played a significant role in making Lucena City a thriving and prosperous place for all its residents."

Meanwhile, the mayor said he believes that Lucena City will continue to thrive and prosper in the years to come, thanks to the dedication and hard work of its residents and the support of the local government.

He also expressed his gratitude to all the individuals and organizations that have played a part in making Lucena City a vibrant and thriving community.

On Lucena Day, he hopes the city nothing but continuing growth and success as its citizens demonstrate their wisdom, resilience, and valuable contributions to the city's history and culture.

The mayor also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among all stakeholders in order to sustain Lucena City's progress and make it an even better place to live, work, and visit.
