TAGKAWAYAN, Quezon - The Tagkawayan Municipal Police Station (MPS) under the supervision of PMAJ Eric Veluz recognized the growing prevalence of e-sabong (online cockfighting) and its potential negative effects on the community, such as increased gambling addiction and illegal betting activities.
In response, the MPS has intensified its efforts to educate the public about the legal consequences of participating in e-sabong and is working closely with relevant authorities to identify and apprehend those involved in this illegal activity.
In a statement, MPS highlighted the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the Secretary of the Interior and local governments (SILGs) in order to effectively address the issue of online e-sabong.
"In support of the SILG's efforts to put an end to Online e-sabong. The Tagkawayan MPS commits to strengthening our campaign against all forms of illegal gambling," the statement read.
They also emphasized that they will also strictly enforce the No-take Policy on all forms of illegal gambling or sources of revenue.
This includes conducting regular operations, coordinating with other law enforcement agencies, and educating the public about the consequences of participating in illegal gambling activities.
The police force believes that by taking these measures, they can effectively deter individuals from engaging in illegal gambling and ensure a safer community for everyone.
Furthermore, MPS has also conducted the hanging of tarpaulin in relation to a stern reminder to stop engaging in e-sabong held in front of Tagkawayan Municipal Police Station, Barangay Poblacion Tagkawayan, Quezon.
The hanging of the tarpaulin serves as a visual reminder to the community about the consequences of participating in illegal activities such as e-sabong.
"There will be sanctions for anyone who violates this order,” said Tagkawayan MPS.
These sanctions said may include fines, imprisonment, or both, depending on the severity of the offense.
Online e-sabong has been prohibited due to its association with illegal gambling activities. It is considered a form of illegal gambling and is therefore subject to strict enforcement measures.
