TAYABAS CITY - To prevent cases of sexual harassment involving local government employees, the Human Resource Management Office here conducted an orientation on the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.

The orientation aimed to educate employees about the importance of maintaining a respectful and inclusive work environment. It also provided guidelines on identifying and reporting any instances of sexual harassment, ensuring that all employees feel safe and supported in their workplace.

The first batch of local government employees of Tayabas City participated in the orientation on the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act and RA 11313, or Safe Spaces Act, on August 29, 2023.

Director Jacinto Mateo III of the Civil Service Commission-Quezon Field Office himself conducts the orientation, emphasizing the importance of creating a culture of respect and equality within the workplace.

He highlighted the significance of understanding the definitions and forms of sexual harassment, as well as the procedures for reporting and addressing such incidents.

Director Mateo also emphasized the role of every employee in promoting a safe and inclusive environment, encouraging open communication, and providing support for victims of harassment.

The second batch of staff will attend orientation on September 12, 2023, where they will receive the same comprehensive training on fostering a culture of respect and equality.

This ongoing commitment to education and awareness ensures that all employees are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to create a workplace free from harassment and discrimination.

The purpose of the said orientation is to provide the staff of the local government of the City of Tayabas with proper knowledge regarding the said laws to prevent incidents of sexual harassment involving civil servants.

Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso is a strong advocate for creating a safe and inclusive work environment.

She believes that by educating her employees about their rights and responsibilities, they can contribute to a positive and respectful workplace culture.

Under her leadership, the City of Tayabas is dedicated to promoting equality and preventing any form of harassment or discrimination.
