BJMP leads unity walk, pact signing for peaceful polls. |
LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Ahead of the official start of the local campaign period, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)- Lucena City District Jail took the lead on Saturday in a unity walk, an interfaith rally, and peace covenant signing at the open grounds of Pacific Mall-Lucena.
Multi-sectoral groups including the academe, law enforcement agencies, non-government organizations, religious leaders and political candidates joined the simple program aimed to promote peaceful, fair, and honest elections.
The event was highlighted by the the ceremonial releasing of doves as a sign of peace and ushering the country to inclusive change and prosperous and peaceful life for the Filipino people.
“Our presence signifies our sincere desire to wholeheartedly support this unity walk and prayer rally, and seek divine intervention for a fair, safe, peaceful, and free BSK elections,” Jail Inspector Richard Benedicto, district jail warden of the Lucena City District Jail Male Dormitory told Serbisyong Ugnayan sa Pamayanan in an interview.
Meanwhile, Comelec election officer Atty. Ana Mei Barbacena enjoined the candidates to abide by the rules and regulations of the election campaign and uphold the integrity of the election process.
