INFANTA, Quezon - The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has announced plans to provide more free WiFi access in Infanta. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and improve internet connectivity in underserved areas.
The DICT has provided free WiFi access in certain public areas in Infanta; however, with this new initiative, they plan to expand the coverage to include more locations throughout the town. By doing so, they hope to ensure that residents and visitors have convenient access to the internet for various purposes, such as communication, education, and business transactions.
The Joint Venture of Comclark Network and Technologies Corp., We Are IT Philippines Inc., and TeleRed Technologies and Services, Inc. will be working together to implement this project.
Each company brings their expertise in network infrastructure, IT solutions, and telecommunications to ensure a seamless and reliable WiFi experience for users. This collaboration will not only benefit the people of Infanta but also contribute to the town's overall development and connectivity.
The areas that will be added to the WiFi coverage include Cacawayan Elementary School, Kiborosa Elementary School, Magsaysay Barangay Hall, Magsaysay Elementary School, Miyunod Elementary School, and New Little Baguio Elementary School.
This expansion will enable residents and visitors to enjoy high-speed internet access while also promoting digital literacy and connectivity within the community.
A meeting was held with local officials and community leaders to discuss the implementation of this WiFi expansion project and the obligations that come with it.
It was focused on ensuring that the WiFi expansion would be accessible to all residents, including those in remote areas, and that there would be proper maintenance and security measures in place to protect the network.
According to Infanta, this project is a great help in bridging the digital divide and promoting equal opportunities for all community members. With improved access to the internet, residents will be able to enhance their digital skills, access educational resources, and explore new economic opportunities.
