TAYSAN, Batangas - The first facility to be built in the country for the creation and production of vaccines from the company Glovax Biotech Corporation has officially started construction in Batangas.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by local government officials led by Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, company executives, and community leaders in Barangay Mahanadiong, Bayan ng Taysan, on September 27, 2023.
The new plant is expected to significantly increase production capacity and meet the growing demand for vaccines in the region.
Its facility is designed and has the capacity to produce around fifty million dosages, starting with major vaccines such as pentavalent vaccines, hepatitis vaccines, and polio vaccines.
In a statement, the Batangas Governor expressed his excitement for the opening of the new plant, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the local economy and healthcare system.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between government, the private sector, and community leaders in addressing public health needs.
The National Development Company partnered with Glovax with a minority share of 7.5 percent worth P150 million, according to CEO of Glovax Giovanni Alingog, to initiate the project.
Alingog said the plant would rise on 4-hectare land in Batangas, but the initial phase of construction will focus on a smaller area to ensure efficient operations.
The company aims to start operation within a year and a half after completing the construction of the plant and will focus on strengthening their production capacity and expanding their market reach.
