SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna - Because buses picking up passengers on the highway cause major traffic congestion in this city during peak hours, a bus terminal was built to provide a designated area for buses to park and pick up passengers.
Recently, a dry run was conducted for the opening and use of the San Pablo Bus Terminal in Brgy. San Rafael, where various company shuttle buses and DLTB, JAC, JAM, and N. Dela Rosa buses are parked here.
The presence of various bus companies at the terminal offers commuters a wider range of options for their daily commute.
The said buses are going to Lucena City, Naga City, the LRT, Buendia, Alabang, and Cubao, among other destinations.
Larry Amante, City Administrator, personally oversaw the dry run to ensure that all systems and facilities at the San Pablo Bus Terminal are functioning properly.
He expressed his satisfaction with the smooth operation of the terminal and emphasized its importance in improving transportation services for the residents of San Pablo City.
Meanwhile, a passenger who requested to hide her identity said that the new bus terminal did not reduce traffic congestion in the city as expected.
She mentioned that there were still long queues and delays in bus arrivals, which caused frustration among commuters.
Despite this, she acknowledged the efforts made by Larry Amante and hoped that further improvements would be implemented to address the traffic issues effectively.
Terminal Manager and Asst. City Budget Officer Siegfred Palomar; Councilors Buhay D. Espiritu and Carmela A. Acebedo; CHRMO Concurrent/CSWMO Eng. Jojo A. Biglete; City Information Officer Enrico B. Galicia; City General Services Officer Marianne L. Belen; CTMO Chief Louie Castillo; PESO Manager Pedrito Bigueras at Executive Asst. Enri Gesmundo attended the dry run of the bus terminal to discuss potential solutions and strategies for improving traffic flow in the city.
They examined various options, such as implementing a more efficient bus scheduling system, constructing additional roads or alternative routes, and increasing public transportation options to reduce private vehicle usage.
The attendees also emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure the effectiveness of these measures in alleviating traffic congestion in San Pablo City.
