TAYABAS CITY - Tayabas City Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso has recently promulgated a meeting with PrimeWater-Quezon Metropolitan Water District (QMWD) to discuss the ongoing water supply issues in the city.

The meeting aims to address the concerns raised by the residents and find a sustainable solution to improve the water supply situation in Tayabas City.

Many Tayabasin are experiencing difficulties with their daily water supply, leading to inconveniences and disruptions in their daily lives, such as difficulties in performing household chores, limited access to clean water for drinking and sanitation purposes, and disruptions in businesses that rely on a steady water supply.

Mayor Reynoso-Pontioso recognizes the urgency of the situation and is committed to working closely with PrimeWater-QMWD to ensure that the needs of the residents are met and that they have access to a reliable water supply.

According to PrimeWater-QMWD management, the sudden loss of flow only lasted for 30 minutes of supply due to the air lock or air entering the pipe due to the discovered fault in the Barangay Angustias part, which weakened the water pressure.

At this time, they said that the contractors who will fix the leak are coming and will start repairing it immediately to ensure a continuous water supply for the affected area.

They assured the residents that once the repair is completed, normal water flow will be restored and measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

They also emphasized their commitment to providing a reliable and uninterrupted water supply in the future.

Meanwhile, PrimeWater-QMWD also discusses the 5-year rehabilitation plan with Mayor Pontioso and other local officials to address the underlying issues that led to the water pipe's failure.

The plan includes upgrading the water infrastructure, implementing stricter maintenance protocols, and conducting regular inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.

Pontioso provided an update on the approved program to build a reservoir in Barangay Ipilan as well as the pipe-laying for the service area expansion.

She stressed the importance of prioritizing the rehabilitation plan to ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply for the community.

She also emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the implementation of the plan to gain the trust and support of the residents.

According to PrimeWater-QMWD reservoir will ensure a more stable water supply for the growing population, while the pipe-laying project will improve accessibility to clean water in underserved areas.

In addition, Pontosio gives a list of the specific areas and households that need not just immediate water rations but a long-term solution to their water scarcity problems.

Pontosio also emphasized the importance of addressing the water scarcity issue in a sustainable manner, as it not only affects immediate needs but also the long-term well-being of the affected areas and households.
