SANTA ROSA CITY, Laguna - With its implementation of digital literacy programs, Santa Rosa City aims to empower its Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) by equipping them with essential skills needed in today's digital age by providing access to technology and teaching them how to effectively navigate the digital world.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT Region IVA-Laguna) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Santa Rosa City Jail Mail Dormitory held a Digital Literacy Training for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) on October 19.
DICT Laguna shared with PDLs the proper use of social media in doing business, such as marketing and using ads to spread their products even more effectively.
They also emphasized the importance of online security and privacy, teaching PDLs how to protect their personal information while using social media platforms.
The training aimed to equip PDLs with valuable skills that can help them reintegrate into society and potentially find employment opportunities in the digital age.
DICT Laguna also had hands-on training in photo editing as part of the activity, teaching PDLs how to enhance and manipulate images using various software programs. This skill can be beneficial for them in pursuing creative opportunities or even starting their own small businesses in the field of graphic design.
Through this initiative, the city hopes to improve their chances of successful reintegration into society upon their release.
DICT Laguna hopes that the seminar will equip the PDLs with valuable skills that can increase their employability and help them secure stable jobs in the digital industry.
