ANITPOLO CITY, Rizal - The Convergence Caravan in Antipolo provides natives with a wide range of medical services and other assistance, ensuring that their healthcare needs are met. From DOH Calabarzon medical services to general medical and dental check-ups to specialized treatments, medicine, and X-rays.

270 Dumagat-Remontado Natives and members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program attended the event on October 3, 2023, which also offers health education programs and workshops to empower individuals with knowledge on preventive care and healthy living practices.

The activity, led by the Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development Calabarzon and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Calabarzon, is part of the celebration of Buwan ng Katutubo this October, which aims to recognize and promote the rights and welfare of indigenous peoples in the Philippines.

The purpose of the caravan is to deliver appropriate assistance and services for indigenous people and residents living in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, according to DOH.

There was also a free birth certificate and national ID registration granted by the Philippine Statistics Authority Rizal during the caravan.

This initiative ensures that indigenous peoples have access to important legal documents, enabling them to fully exercise their rights and avail of government services.

Apart from this, the DSWD, Department of Education, and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples also held a seminar for the beneficiaries. The discussion centers on topics related to education, family and health, child marriage law, and other government programs to address hunger and poverty.

For the natives, the convergence caravan is a great help as it provides them with the necessary information and resources to improve their overall well-being.

It also fosters a sense of empowerment and inclusivity among indigenous communities, allowing them to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives.
