LUCENA CITY, Quezon - The Quezon government has recently announced its plans to establish a new council that will focus on addressing the needs and concerns of the local community to ensure that the concerns and needs of all sectors in Quezon are heard and addressed effectively.

The Provincial Assistance Community Sectoral Empowerment Development Unit (PACSEDU), led by their head, Antonio Manrique, convened a meeting of representatives from various sectors in Quezon on October 20, 2023, at the St. Jude Cooperative Hotel and Event Center, Brgy. Isabang, Tayabas City, to discuss the formation of the new council.

In a speech, Manrique said this council, which will be called the Quezon Provincial People's Council, aims to bring together various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and residents, to collaborate and find innovative solutions for the development and progress of Quezon.

He also said that the council will work towards ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and their concerns are addressed by creating platforms for open dialogue and active participation.

Manrique emphasized the importance of inclusivity and diversity within the council, stating that it will strive to represent the interests of all sectors of society, regardless of their social or economic background.

He highlighted the council's commitment to transparency and accountability in its decision-making processes, aiming to build trust and foster a sense of ownership among the people of Quezon.

Meanwhile, Board Member Harold Butardo, DILG representative, Municipal Community Officers, and Civil Society Organization Desk Officers were also present during the meeting.

They expressed their commitment to collaborate with the council in order to effectively implement programs and policies that promote community development and welfare.

Butardo also emphasized the importance of active citizen participation in decision-making, encouraging residents to voice their opinions and concerns.

He said the Quezon government hopes to foster a more inclusive and participatory democracy by ensuring that all members of the community have a platform to contribute their ideas and be heard.

The Civil Society Organization Desk Officers agreed, stating that by working together, they can create a stronger and more equitable society for all residents of Quezon.
