LUCENA CITY - In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of preventing rabies, Quezon Province organized a special event to mark World Rabies Day.
The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, Quezon, in collaboration with the Quezon Veterinary Medical Association, held a pet vaccination drive and seminar on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the 3rd Floor of Pacific Mall Lucena.
The event aimed to provide free vaccinations for pets, ensuring their protection against this deadly disease. The furparents and their pet dogs and cats gathered for the services provided by the provincial veterinarian, such as free vitamins, veterinary check-ups, grooming, spay and neuter, deworming, and most of all, the vaccine against rabies.
There was also a short seminar for those who attended on the importance of anti-rabies vaccination for the safety and health of their pets, as well as the potential risks and consequences of not getting their pets vaccinated.
The seminar emphasized the role of pet owners in preventing the spread of rabies and highlighted the significance of responsible pet ownership in keeping both animals and humans safe from this deadly disease.
Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Flomella Caguicla extended the advocacy of their office for a rabies-free community and urged pet owners to take advantage of the free anti-rabies vaccination campaigns being conducted regularly in their area.
She also said the first step to achieving this is being responsible pet owners and taking proper care and nurturing of our pets, including ensuring they are vaccinated against rabies.
World Rabies Day is an annual global observance that aims to raise awareness about the impact of rabies and promote prevention and control measures.
It serves as a reminder for individuals to educate themselves about the disease, its transmission, and how to protect themselves and their pets.
